Excerpts from the Episode:

Host: In this episode, we will dive into her unique methods of writing and explore some of the incredible stories she has uncovered.

Plus, we'll get a sneak peek into some of the future books coming down the pike.

Host: As a new author with a passion for medical mysteries and local lore, could you share what initially sparked your fascination with these themes and how they influence your writing?

Barbara: Well, I have always been a lover of detective shows since I was little, and I used to read the whole series of the Nancy Drew books. And I also have a curiosity with the 19th century and how things were done, and how people lived.

It's just something I've always been interested in.

Yeah, after seeing the school and the grounds, it really fascinated me.
And he then showed me the local cemetery. And there were headstones from some of the girls that had perished at the Stevens School.

Host: It always makes me curious, because to sit down and write the book and the process of how it goes and how long it must take.

I don't remember if I asked you in the questions, but this book must have been a long process.

Barbara: It took me around three years.

Host: Oh, wow.

Barbara: Yeah. Because one facet is getting the information about the school. I wanted to use some of the real names, at least the real first names. The other facet was learning and reading about forensic anthropology. But, you know, it did take some time. I wanted to Make sure I had things correct. And yeah, this was a long process.
My next book, I think once I, you know, now that I know more about forensic
anthropology and I have my source books; the next book will be a lot easier to write.
